Ranking in Open Tournaments: ELO calculation.

We are thinking of instating a new ranking system for the Open Tournaments, the ELO ranking. Inspired from chess you may learn more about it on: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ELO_ranking .

To make it simple, let just say that the ELO rating is based a lot on the players experience (number of deals played on Funbridge) and that an average player should have an Elo rating of 1500.00. The higher your ELO is, the better is your level of play.

The Elo calculation is done when two players compare themselves. How will this formula apply to Open Tournaments? Simply by computing the Elo formula to each possible duel in the tournament, then we will divide the result by the number of registered players minus 1.

For example, a 4 player tournament: A, B, C, and D.

Let say that you are player A; we will apply the Elo formula comparing you to all other tournament players. It gives the Elo calculation on the following duels:
A compared to B
A compared to C
A compared to D
The total of the ELO computed will be divided by 3 giving us the number of ELO points that are scored on the deal.

In case of a tie between two players, A and B: we will calculate for A the number of points Elo he would have scored for a win, the number of Elo points he would have scored for a lost, and calculate the difference between both. We consider that the player having a lower Elo, in case of a tie, should be scoring points.

Here is where we are in our thoughts on that matter. What do you think? Don’t be shy, let us know!

If we stop the FunnyZ, what will happen with the one you already have?

The FunnyZ that have been given to you (200 at the beginning and the 50 per period for Premium members) will be deleted from your account. The FunnyZ that where bought and/or given to you with the June offer will be redeemed as membership extension.

If you bought FunnyZ as a Premium member, the membership extension for the will be computed the following way:

Number of FunnyZ time 0.02 = € value to convert in membership days.
€ value to convert divided by 0.23* = numbers of days that will be added to your membership.
*The 0.23€ value was establish on the monthly average value of a Premium membership (7€) divided by 30 days.

If you bought FunnyZ as a non Premium member, the membership extension for the will be computed the following way:

Number of FunnyZ time 0.04 = € value to convert in membership days.
€ value to convert divided by 0.23* = numbers of days that will be converted to Premium membership.
*The 0.23€ value was establish on the monthly average value of a Premium membership (7€) divided by 30 days.

The Open Tournaments: FunnyZ and Challenges.

We are thinking about the following changes for the Open Tournaments:

- No more FunnyZ either as an entry fee or pot: the Open Tournament will be totally free and available to Premium members only. You may ask yourself what will happen of your FunnyZ: read the article: “If we stop the FunnyZ, what will happen with the one you already have?”

- Instatement of Challenges: as for Open Tournaments, you will now be able to challenge someone using the “Challenge” button on his info card: you will then be able to set the numbers of deal, the game engine, the time and then you play one on one in an open tournament, with the player of your choice.

Let us know what you think.
