Sitting South what would your next bid be?
Federica Dalpozzo’s answers

With 6 cards in clubs, this bid is ideal. The objective is for the bidding to return to you before the game level so that you can bid the spades and reverse. As an overcall, this shows a positive hand with a 6-4 distribution, where the game remains conceivable in case of a 9-card fit. Your partner will have a clear view of your hand and can make the best decision, whether to defend, pass or double the opponents.

A good choice if there is a fit, especially if the opponents quickly bid hearts. However, it’s a shame to lie about the suit length when you have the possibility of showing your hand in two stages. You will then allow your partner to return to clubs serenely if necessary.

You are in the right point range. You have a solid maximum hand and the diamond stop. However, this bid does not describe your distribution in any way and could lead you to go down in 1NT when a part-score in one of your suits would have won. Another risk: your partner could make a transfer to hearts with a weak hand and 5 cards, leaving you in a catastrophic contract with a 5-1 break. At least this bid has the merit of not forcing your partner to play the contract!
10/20

With a 6-4 and good opening values, it is unthinkable to pass at such a low level, especially as it will become very difficult to describe your hand in a competitive auction afterwards.

A bid to be avoided absolutely. The heart shortage is far too risky, your partner could immediately bid 4♥ with 5 cards and a strong hand, putting you in a very uncomfortable position.

2 diamonds might be considered a very powerful and forcing bid
2 diamond is normally 5 5 spades hearts
2 spade
The double could also show a strong hand and partner should not close the bidding down.
Having said that I would have bid 2 clubs. But is a double that bad?
Agree with you. Unique cons of double is That the singleton K is weak. Hand is not in rever. If there was singleton heart and AK of diamond, double would have been the perfect bid. Anyway yes, better dbl than 1nt 🙂
Wonderful! I would have bid 3 clubs. But realise, 2 clubs is best!
agree with you
1nt it was my bid
4 spades
3 clubs my bid
Question is much too easy. Two clubs is a no brainer.
not obvious. 2C is not forcing. 3C would be, showing 5 clubs and 5 Spades
Thought 2C Initially. Then X sounded more forcing.
I agree, I thought 2c and then thought, that was too obvious and re thought double.
Appreciate the grounded reasoning for bid options.
2 clubs to start with
2 clubs seemed pretty obvious o me but then I’m not used to the « revised » back doors in the game these days and I can see the possibilities of a 3 club bid but I still may be a bit unsure to do it.
Nice problem…thanks!
I would have bid 1S to keep it at the one level first and see if we had a major fit.
2 diamonds as second choice, being my bid 2 clubs
What dies V represent ? And R?
French pack
R = Roi = King
I am now guessing but probably
V = Valet = Jack
Unfortunately could not understand the J and R cards. We’re they jacks or kings. Could help if pictures are shown more.
I agree with Frederica’s proposals, 2 clubs being the best bid
Two clubs
2 clubs
Two clubs.
